Hello everyone!
Today I’m offering a lore-friendly mod—a pack of upgraded Brute buses.
I’ve created three standard models:
- 10m/35ft
- 11.5m/38ft
- 18m/60ft (articulated)
The changes aren’t massive, but they’re noticeable.
The seats now have a separate texture, I’ve added new headlights, LED displays as an vehicle extras, a new steering wheel, and implemented advanced handling.
All buses are based on the default Brute Bullet.
Credits:
-3D model - Brute Industries
-Modification - Chester Jackson Bus & Coach Industries
This mod is experimental. All buses are prototypes. If you like mods like this, I can make something else in this style. I made this mod in one night, so it’s not that difficult. I’m looking forward to your ideas!
Add-On Installation:
1. Copy the “BruteNerdyPack” folder to Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\`
2. Open OpenIV and enable Edit Mode.
3. Navigate to `mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\`
4. Right-click on `dlclist.xml` and click Edit.
5. Add this line at the bottom, just above ``: `dlcpacks:/BruteNerdyPack/`
6. Save the file.
7. Spawn the vehicles in-game using a trainer.
Spawn names:
1. “Nerdy1” - 10m/35ft bus
2. “Nerdy2” - 11.5m/38ft bus (my own standard)
3. “Nerdy3F” + “Nerdy3R” - 18m/60ft bus (main part and trailer)
Enjoy!!

A simple but awesome mod that adds more variety to LS. When will you release more engine sounds for the buses? Modern CNG engines are good. Also, what mod do you use to fully rotate the steering wheel in first-person view?
@NikoBLC Thank you for your feedback. I plan to release an update for the mod with sound effects within the next two weeks. It will be based on the Gillig BRT engine. For full steering rotation I’m using Manual Transmission mod.
@dr Chester Jackson Thank you, and keep going. You deserve more visibility 👍
@NikoBLC Thanks, man🫡
more Variants of the vanilla bus is a mod i needed your mods are great keep going like this
@aislep Thanks, there will be even more versions in the future.
I like the idea but it's rough currently, a few issues I noticed:
- Vehshare textures are in the mods' ytd files when they should not be as it creates a conflict and can cause texture issues across other vehicles.
- The normals are now messed up, weighted normals should have been applied.
- The meshes have gaps, z-fighting and seams.
- Meshes are stretched, notably seen on the ads inside.
- The buses no longer have their original carvariation colours.
- Towards the rear of the bus where the white part elevated upwards, the smooth line is now interrupted by three errors.
I kindly suggest you pause development of any new mods and refine what you have currently as it needs it. You have potential that's for sure but lessons need to be applied to past work and not just carried forward. I am happy to help in any way I can, genuinely not trying to shoot you down.
@StarlightDX Thank you for your feedback. Most of these bugs aren’t worth fixing—for example, hardly anyone looks at the interior. I’ll definitely try to fix the body (including the standard version and liveries) and maybe the interior, but I can’t promise anything. To put it simply: Is it free? It’s free. Is it good? It’s free.
@dr Chester Jackson These are easily noticeable bugs and very worth fixing, bugs I simply wouldn't allow in my work. Bugs that in the case of veshare texture repackaging cause compatibility issues. I look at the interior, anyone and everyone playing in first person looks at the interior, it's a bus. Saying it's free is a straw-man argument at best because that means nothing, it's great that your doing this for free, but then by that logic you have no reason to spam out releases at a lower quality, instead you can refine your work because you certainly have no quota to meet. In short being free doesn't excuse issues, especially if you're just going to keep releasing lower quality pieces.
@StarlightDX You're right that there are significant bugs here that are worth fixing. I'm not saying no—just that we have different approaches to modding. I'm not trying to justify my mistakes by saying I'm doing this for free. I’m saying this because I can make five working mods a month without asking for anything in return, and the average person won’t notice the aesthetic bugs—which I fix in subsequent versions anyway. This isn’t spamming low-quality mods, if they were low-quality, they wouldn’t get so many downloads and ratings.
@dr Chester Jackson In terms of quality, the effort doesn't often match the reward, you'd be surprised so don't take ratings given before people even install the content at face value. I didn't mean to say you spam low quality mods but the overarching point is that you can just slow down and make one great mod a month. People do notice these small aesthetic things. And if you do fix these things in subsequent versions, would it not be easier to just get it right the first time around then move on? Don't base your work on what the average person may or may not think, try make it the best it can be (within reason of course). TLDR you can always improve.
@StarlightDX I'm glad we cleared up this issue with your “spamming low-quality mods.” You have to understand that we have different approaches to modding: you have one perfect mod (I hope it's perfect)—you worked on it for a long time so you wouldn't have to come back to it later—while I prefer to release it first and then see what the community would like to improve. After all, I’m not telling you to make a lot of mods just because that’s what I do, am I? I rely only on myself, and then if people ask me to fix something, I don’t redirect them somewhere else. Since you say people rate mods before installing them, why don’t they change their ratings afterward? So just accept that my approach to modding is different, and you could message me later because I’m currently working on a new gem for my collection.
@dr Chester Jackson I understand we have different approaches, that said I feel like one approach is more forgivable than the other if that makes sense; however I am not going to force you to change, I understand your release first fix later mentality, as long as you actually do so I have no complaints, this mod in question is over the line, the others however are at least acceptable quality. Keep consistent to your prior works at the very least and you know what, fair enough man. I don't think you can change the rating after the fact and btw I did mean that globally, not just on your own mods. In terms of testing and community feedback, I don't criticise for nothing, I would be happy to help you during development so that your upload is the best it can be while still fitting into your schedule and what not, I.e. testing, feedback and advice. Yes feel free to message me, I am in the 5Mods Discord server under the same name.
@StarlightDX Thank you for the offer, but I prefer to learn and work on my own so that I don't blame others for my mistakes later on.
You could just not blame others then, besides the fact I could just test and feedback.
Really great mod, I like it a lot, the quality is really high
@laoxigua Thank you so much for your feedback!
@dr Chester Jackson Hi, thank you for modelling these buses.
We are willing to enhance the vanilla bus.
Features that we are thinking of:
- modern design and architecture (between american and europian design)
- bigger LCD sign display
- wider doors
- light tinted windows
- straight windows (not the separated ones)
- LED interior lights
- xenon headlights
- 10 seatable seats instead 16
- fully compatible with entering and exiting animations (unlike the issue with Urbino and Retro bus models)
- correct seats offsets (unlike the issue with the XD40 model)
- compact normal bus to reduce route bugs in LSBS (details i'll explain them to you after)
Since you are an experienced modeler we invite you to our discord server for a small discussion: https://discord.gg/VrbmkzMNTR
I hope we can do something great together.
