In GTA V to simulate a real-world camera, a lens-distortion is performed on the image by using a small pixel shader. It does not only distorts the image, it also introduces small chromatic aberrations on the edges of the frame, by slightly distorting more the red channel compared to the green and blue ones.
Personally I hate this post effect. So I decided to create this MOD - now you can enjoy pure, without noise and no stretched picture at same FPS! Screenshots taken in 1080p /High options without any other gfx mods. GIF Comparison
Install instructions:
0. Add -nobattleye to the launch arguments to turn off BattlEye.
1. COPY original file 'GTA5 folder \ update \ update2.rpf' TO 'GTA5 folder \ MODs \ update \' (create absent subfolders)
2. Using OpenIV, extract all *.xml files from 'GTA5 folder \ update \ update.rpf > common > data > timecycle' to any new directory where you were downloaded No_Chromatic_aberration_&_Lens_distortion_2.ps1 script.
3. Run *.ps1 script to MOD the files automatically. (“Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Scope Process” command may needed to approve *.ps1 scripts for current PowerShell session)
4. With OpenIV create 'timecycle' subfolder in 'GTA5 folder \ MODs \ update \ update2.rpf > common > data' then drag&drop all modified *.xml files there. (Screenshot how it should look in OpenIV)
4.1 For GTA 5 Enhanced: download "OpenRPF" mod and extract files into Game directory.
Changelog:
Created an automatic *.ps1-solution which’ll be convenient for merging with other mods in each specific case.

@VenJam1n You should try to use XPath with an OIV installer so you don't have to constantly update the mod

@VenJam1n I got a question for you, what happens if I skip one file, timecycle_mods_1.xml, and install the other three, timecycle_mods_2,3 and 4, would this mod still work partially or not at all? The reason I ask is because I already have a modified timecycle_mods_1.xml which is from another mod (New Underwater Experience), the other ones timecycle_mods_2, 3 and 4 are not modified so I can replace 'em with yours but, can't use your timecycle_mods_1.xml. I don't know if that's gonna break this mod or not, what's your opinion on that?
I did compared both, the timecycle_mods_1.xml from the "New Underwater Experience" and your timecycle_mods_1.xml in Notepad++ but, there're way too many differences between the two so I didn't even bothered to attempt to merge the info from the two into one.
Can you make downloadable variations for QuantV files and VisualV? It would be really nice.. Or make a tutorial with explanations where what need to be disabled. As Im aware (never used it) there is some live timecyc editor (in-game or something).. :) Thanks for the mod I needed this before 15 years like I also need it now.. Hehe :D
Image freezes with Frame Generation enabled (Both DLSS FG and FSR FG). Plz fix. Thank you.
I believe this is broken with the latest update. Causes weird graphical artifacting when used. I went in and made the changes myself using clean timecycle files and the issue was gone, so maybe something changed in those files since this mod was created.
can you add an option to remove vignette when in first person as well?
If somebody experiences the issue I had with black screen in the game, I modified timecycle_mods files. The chrom_aberration_coeff2 set to 0.000 was causing it. I set it to 0.001 in all 4 timecycle_mods files and the issue was gone.
Or just disable frame generation... how the hell is chromatic aberration connected to it. wtf
So the mod actually works on GTA 5 Enhanced 1013.29. If it doesn't, you are doing something wrong.
Ok, the mod works but not when DLSS and FG are enabled at the same time. If you enable DLSS without FG, or only FG without DLSS, it works. If both are enabled, the screen freezes, although game is running in the backgroun and you can get to menu screen to disable one of the option...Super strange.
I want to apply this mod in gta 5 enhanced with that auto apply fix patch since even though I can manually add it in game, its just annoying for this old person (I am 32 years old btw).
Also can you add the option to disable explosion shake and blur within some separate commands in that batch file please?
I looked here for those mods to but they are not updated for Enhanced edition.
