Persistent vehicle fuel for GTA V, with a refuel you walk through.
by spitmux
🛻 WHAT IT IS
Every vanilla and online vehicle carries a real fuel tank. It empties as you drive, and it is still empty when you come back to that car tomorrow.
Refuelling is not a menu. Get out, walk to the pump, take the nozzle off it — it goes in your hand and the hose comes with you. Walk round to wherever that model's filler actually is, fill up, then walk the nozzle back and hang it on the pump. Walk too far and the hose pulls it out of your hands.
Runs on both editions, Legacy and Enhanced, from one build.
🔧 WHAT ELSE IS IN THERE
✅ REQUIREMENTS
On GTA V Enhanced it has to be the Enhanced fork, because nothing else runs on that edition at all: script-hook-v-net-enhanced
One thing that stops more installs than anything else: there is no "3.9" to download. The Enhanced fork reports an assembly version of 3.9.0.0 but is released as v1.1.x. People go looking for a 3.9, find nothing, install the newest thing labelled 3, and the mod quietly does not load. Check the DLL itself — right-click ScriptHookVDotNet3.dll, Properties, Details.
Nothing else is needed. No NativeUI, no LemonUI, no iFruitAddon.
⚠️ Remove any other fuel mod first. Two of them will both cut your engine and both charge you, and neither will know about the other.
💾 INSTALLING
Copy the scripts folder from this zip into your GTA V folder, so you end up with:
The icons folder is not optional decoration — without it the HUD still works, but there are no pictures in it.
To uninstall, delete those. Nothing is written anywhere else, and nothing in the game's own files is touched.

🔧 WHAT ELSE IS IN THERE
- 🥤 Siphon fuel out of any car. Walk up with a jerry can and draw it the other way. He crouches, stands the can down, and runs a hose from his hand to its spout.
- 🔥 A full can does not stop it. A pool of petrol grows at your feet, and it is the game's own petrol — it ignites.
- ⛽ Fuel grades — Regular, Plus, Premium. The grade lives in the tank, so a car you filled with premium is still running on premium next week. A card at the pump shows what each grade costs there and what it gives you back.
- 🚛 Diesel. Trucks, buses, tractors and the fire engine take it. Costs more, goes further.
- 🏍️ A bike gets a bike's tank — sixteen litres, not the sixty-five handling.meta claims — so filling one costs about seventeen dollars. It still covers the same ground, because the economy is worked out from the tank and the range together.
- 🔌 Electric vehicles are left alone entirely. No tank, no gauge, no prompt, no fuel burned.
- 🚗 Traffic pulls into forecourts when it is low and already nearby.
- 📟 The gauge sloshes with speed, throws sideways when you stop hard, chimes when you dip into reserve, and hides when the game's own HUD does.
- 🗺️ Twenty-five stations on the map, sharing one legend entry so they do not fill the list you page through.
✅ REQUIREMENTS
- Script Hook V — for your edition.
- ScriptHookVDotNet 3 — any build from 3.6.0 onwards, nightlies included, Enhanced fork included.
On GTA V Enhanced it has to be the Enhanced fork, because nothing else runs on that edition at all: script-hook-v-net-enhanced

📋 CHANGELOG — 0.1.4
- 🐛 Fixed: a vehicle could come back from a save load with a full tank when it had half of one. Two things have to go wrong together and a load is the one moment they both do — the plate has not streamed in yet so the saved level is not found, and the game's mission flag is set while it restores itself, so the rule that hands a full tank to a mission car fires. The mission rule now needs a plate: a vehicle that cannot be identified cannot be known to be a mission vehicle, and "full" is the most damaging thing to guess about a car you do not recognise. Reported by sjmss8094.
- 🏍️ Bikes get a bike's tank — 16 L instead of the 65 that handling.meta reports, so filling one costs about $17 rather than $80. And they still go as far as a car: the economy figure is derived from the tank and the range together, so change one and the other follows.
- 🔌 Electric vehicles are out entirely — no tank, no gauge, no prompt, no fuel burned. A Voltic taking sixty litres of unleaded was the one thing in here that was simply wrong. AffectElectric turns the old behaviour back on. Asked for by MaitreSystem.
- 🗺️ All the stations are one map-legend entry instead of one row each — twenty-five forecourts were twenty-five of the rows you page through. The cost is that the row no longer names the brand or the district; blanking BlipName gives that back. Asked for by enbee997.
- 🖐️ Fixed: he filled up with the wrong hand. The nozzle was already in his right hand — that setting only ever moved the prop, never the animation — so the left arm did the reaching while the nozzle hung at his side. Reported by Zona Comics.
- 🔁 Fixed: the siphon and pour animations could stick. They ended in six different places and each was trusted to take the right clip off him; reloading the script mid-siphon took none of them off at all. The poses now come off by stage, the way the pump sound already did.
- 💨 Spluttering is a share of the tank rather than a fixed number of litres. At 0.6 L it was under one per cent of a saloon and nearly four of a motorbike — the smaller the tank, the less warning you got, which is backwards. Capped, so nothing splutters for more than about two litres.
- 🛢️ The spilled pool grows with how much is on the floor, rather than reaching full size in four seconds and stopping. Nine litres now looks like nine litres.
- 🥫 The can he stands on the ground while siphoning is the same model he carries — the scuffed scenery can was a visibly different red next to the clean one on his back.
- ⚙️ 214 settings in the ini, up from 207.
📋 CHANGELOG — 0.1.3
- ✅ Now runs on any ScriptHookVDotNet 3 from 3.6.0, not just the Enhanced fork. It called one method that only newer builds have, in five places — so on older builds it loaded fine and then failed later, in five unrelated spots, none of them mentioning a version. It goes through the native underneath now.
- 🥤 Siphon fuel out of any car. Walk up with a jerry can and draw fuel the other way. He crouches, stands the can down, and runs a hose from his hand to its spout.
- 🔥 A full can does not stop it. A pool of petrol grows at your feet. It is the game's own petrol — it ignites.
- 💳 A grade card at the pump, showing what each grade costs at that station and what it returns.
- 🚛 Diesel. Trucks, buses, tractors and the fire engine take it. Costs more, goes further.
- ⛽ Fuel grades — Regular, Plus, Premium. The grade lives in the tank, so a car you filled with premium is still running on premium.
- 🎮 Controller support for the settings menu and the grade card.
- 🚗 Traffic pulls into forecourts when low and already nearby.
- 👊 You can throw a punch mid-siphon.
- 🔔 A chime when you dip into reserve.
- 📟 The gauge sloshes with speed, throws sideways when you stop hard, and hides when the game's HUD does.
- 🐛 Fixed: help text lost a space at every line break, welding button icons to the word behind them.
- 🐛 Fixed: story-mission cars are full again, without DLC cars going back to being full.
- ⚙️ 207 settings in the ini, up from 118.

@everyone this is the SHVDOTNET you need for this to work, its compatible with the other nightly things as in all your other mods will work with this its and updated version of SHVDOTNET that works for both legacy and enhanced i hope this helps: https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/script-hook-v-net-enhanced
@jerome74 sorry mate , i must of missed that one on the replies. i did read it though and implemented most , thank you for the feedback it is much appreciated , sorry for the ghosting
@Starfox1993 thank you :)
@thalilmythos thanks dude , much appreciated,
ive been using your mods for years so thank you for your work aswell!
@MaitreSystem ive added the setting to turn them off but ill try and work on some sort of charging station feature aswell in the future
@RReu should work from 3.6 to 3.9 , i run 3.9 so i havent tested the other builds but from my understanding they should work
@nj5050 i think the compatibility issues are solved hopefully , ive yet to test on any builds under 3.9 but i have reports of it working on nightly and 3.6 :) thanks for the feedback
@spitmux I barely started to test it and im already impressed, great work
It's a really well-made fuel station mod.
It's a really great mod. I have one question, though. If the vehicle has around 50% fuel remaining when I save the game and then load it again later, the fuel is restored to 100%. Is there a way to make the fuel level save at the amount that was remaining when the game was saved?
@spitmux I really liked the mod.
I really like the mod! The realistic vehicle refueling and the jerry can support are great.
Could you add a few fuel stations for airplanes and watercraft in a future update?
Also, in the Enhanced version, the jerry can refueling animation often remains stuck after refueling is finished.
Thank you for the great mod and for your work!
@spitmux Hey man, your mod is incredible. There's just one bug—a small, silly thing—but if you fix it, I'd travel across the world to give you a kiss lol. The character at the pump is holding the hose with their left hand, whereas your video shows the correct animation using the right hand. That was the only bug I found. I was wondering if you might do something related to electric vehicles in the future—not that I personally care, but someone else might ask for it. Congrats on the most realistic mod I've ever seen. By the way, I actually tested it on the legacy version.
va bene per legacy?
@spitmux I'm on legacy on the 3.7.0 nightly build I have tried it on a few other builds but it always fails to load because of SHVDN3, says the version is 3.9. It does seem to work fine on the enhanced SHVDN though, but not on the normal version unfortunately
@spitmux I tested it again, and everything is working fine with the jerry can animation.
Could you please add a few fuel stations for watercraft and aircraft?
I also increased the fuel consumption from 1.0 to 3.0. I really like this setting for cars, but it is still not enough for airplanes. If possible, could you add a separate fuel consumption multiplier for aircraft?
Thank you!
@spitmux Hi! I really like the fuel system and the way the mod works overall.
I noticed one issue when the fuel runs out completely. The vehicle starts making sparks and sometimes begins moving backwards, which looks quite unrealistic.
Could you please make it so that when the fuel reaches 0, the vehicle simply stalls and stops, without the sparks or the strange backward movement?
I tried setting "SputterLitres = 0", but it doesn't seem to change this behavior.
Thank you!
@spitmux Bro, I just saw that you released the new version only a day after your reply — that's seriously awesome!🔥❤️
Thank you for actually listening to the feedback and putting so much work into the project. It's really appreciated.
Please keep developing Fumes for as long as you can. This mod has WAY too much potential to stop here.
I'd especially love to see you keep polishing everything until it feels as stable, smooth and immersive as a native part of GTA V as possible.
One thing I'd really appreciate is keeping full Legacy compatibility in mind, especially with ScriptHookVDotNet and Nightly builds such as Nightly 189. If possible, please make sure the mod remains stable and fully functional on Legacy + SHVDN Nightly 189 as the project continues to evolve. Having a reliable version for older Legacy setups would be amazing.
And please keep bringing new ideas too! Don't be afraid to experiment and expand the system beyond what it currently does.
I'd love to eventually see things like:
• More realistic fuel consumption based on vehicle type, engine, weight and driving style.
• Different fuel tanks and capacities for different vehicles.
• More advanced Diesel support for trucks, buses and heavy vehicles.
• More realistic refueling animations and interactions.
• Better fuel station behavior and more immersive NPC interactions.
• More detailed fuel gauges and customizable HUD elements.
• Better low-fuel warnings and different warning stages.
• More realistic consequences for completely running out of fuel.
• More customization for fuel consumption, fuel types and vehicle-specific settings.
• Better support for modded/add-on vehicles.
• More advanced persistence so every vehicle can remember its exact fuel level and fuel type.
• And eventually, maybe even a complete fuel/vehicle management system that feels like a proper simulation.
But honestly, don't feel pressured to implement everything at once.
Take your time, fix bugs, improve stability, polish the existing features, and then keep adding new ideas step by step.
The fact that you're already releasing updates and actively listening to feedback is a really good sign.
Please don't abandon this project.❤️
Keep working on it whenever you have the time, keep experimenting, and take Fumes as far as you possibly can.
I'd genuinely love to see where this mod is a year from now.
Amazing work, bro. Keep going!🔥⛽🚛❤️
salut merci encore pour ce mod genial. j'au juste un probleme quel est le scripthookvdotnet exacte qu'il faut utilisé. je suis sur la version 0.1.4
Thank you so much for creating Fumes and for constantly listening and responding to the community!❤️
I really appreciate the amount of work and attention you’re putting into this mod. The fuel system keeps getting better with every update, and 0.1.4 is another great step forward.
Please never abandon this project! 🙏 Keep updating it, improving it, fixing bugs, and most importantly, keep experimenting with new ideas. I’d love to see Fumes continue growing into one of the most complete and immersive fuel systems for GTA V.
If you ever need ideas or suggestions for new features, I’d be more than happy to help and share some ideas with you. There are so many possibilities for this mod, and I’d love to see where you take it in the future.
Thank you again for your hard work, your updates, and especially for taking the time to respond to people’s comments. Keep going! 🔥❤️
