OpenRPF is an alternative to OpenIV.asi, which is now obsolete with GTA V's Enhanced version. It works in the same way, allowing modified files to be loaded from a mods folder, thus avoiding the need to modify the game's original files.
Features:
• OPEN & encrypted compatibility: OpenRPF supports both the game's native archives and those created with OpenIV (OPEN). No need to re-encrypt your modified files.
• rpf.cache bypass on Gen9: OpenRPF bypasses the rpf.cache for modified files placed in the mods folder, allowing them to load without additional intervention.
• Integrated ASI Loader: Just like OpenIV provided dinput8.dll, OpenRPF includes dsound.dll to enable ASI plugin loading in GTA V Enhanced (as well as loading OpenRPF.asi).
• Performance optimization: OpenIV.asi could cause slowdowns due to inefficient file loading management. OpenRPF fixes this issue for a smoother gaming experience.
Installation:
1. Extract the archive contents into the GTA V Enhanced directory (where GTA5_Enhanced.exe is located).
2. Create a mods folder.
3. Place your modified RPF archives inside this folder, just like with OpenIV.asi.
4. Launch the game and enjoy your mods on the Enhanced version of GTA V.
Warnings:
• The mod does not change file versions: Gen8 (GTA V Legacy) files on Gen9 (GTA V Enhanced) will cause a crash if used. Ensure you use GTA V Enhanced compatible files or convert them using Dexyfex's tool in CodeWalker.
• Some resources are not yet perfectly converted by CodeWalker: which may cause crashes or visual anomalies. If you encounter issues, feel free to report them on the CodeWalker Discord.
Changelog:
0.1: Initial release
0.2: Various fixes, deleting the dsound.dll, and default implementation of the cache bypass (no need for rpf.cache.disable anymore)
0.3: Compatibility update for versions 1013.17+ (GTA Online “A Safehouse in the Hills” update)

For those of you trying to get this to work with GTA 5 Enhanced and NVE/Natural Vision Enhanced, and know what you're doing, don't put the onigiri folder from NVE directly into your main GTA V Enhanced installation folder. Instead, you'll need to ensure you have a mods folder with an update folder inside it. And then ensure you have copied the update.rpf and x64 folder from \GTA 5 Enhanced main directory\update into that custom mods\update folder.
Once that is done, you'll need to manually place the files from onigiri using either Codewalker or OpenIV and ZEnhanced:
- \onigiri\common should be placed in \Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced\mods\update\update.rpf\common
- \onigiri\dlcpacks should be placed in \Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks
- \onigiri\platform should be placed in \Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced\mods\update\update.rpf/x64
- Then delete the onigiri.asi and onigi.ini files in the main directory
You'll get a warning that you have OpenRPF installed which conflicts with NVE when launching the game, but that is safe to ignore and things should all work as expected.
@sensoku Did you update your ScriptHookV from https://dev-c.com/ ?
can't install openiv mods with this. it says that openiv.asi is missing. what to do?
Sorry for the newbie question, but I've installed OpenRPF, OpenIV, and OpenIV Fix for GTA V Enhanced 1.0
It's unclear to me:
a) How/where to create the mods folder. Should it somehow be done in OpenVI (don't see how) or just make a normal folder in the GTAVEhanced top level folder in windows?
b) what specifically should be transferred into the mods folder? Specifically I'm wanting to install a mod that changes dispatch.meta
Thanks!
@shifuguru If you know, any help would be appreciated
if ya want to use mods use the legacy version instead, very little can be done on enhanced since few mods are compatible They might crashing any moment btw you can have same graphics in a modded legacy lol, let enhanced for online stuff.
it only downloads ASI Loader, not OpenIV.ASI
goat
My game wouldn't open when I pasted the openrpf.asi file into the game's root folder. Any solutions?
@cheddarbanana mine won't work too, weird.
@cheddarbanana check the pinned comment, it worked for me when i did it
Hi, do you plan on updating for most recent update?
I'm on a fresh install of Enhanced and just started modding my game. Sucks that I decided to do this on the day of an update. Although for me everything seemed to be working fine. Menyoo is working fine; my .asi mods load up fine. My only issue is that my game crashes when I spawn the only car I installed. Thought it had to do with the recent update thing, so I downgraded, but nothing changed. Everything else works fine; I just crash when spawning that car.
I checked some of the logs, and I'm not sure if this is meant to happen since I'm using OpenRPF, but it says ["OpenIV.asi" failed to load] but it seems like OpenRPF.asi loaded just fine.

I've done almost every step needed to get mods going. I even have DirectStorageFix and a custom config even though I hardly have any mods installed. My game loads up fine and I get no errors other than OpenIV.asi failed to load in the log. So is that normal or should I keep diving into looking for a fix for OpenIV.asi?
NVM. I just found out about Gen8/9 thing and needed to convert the car file. All working great now. I'll just stay on the downgraded enhanced anyways since I see a lot of people having other issues. Which seems like it has to do with other mods since mine technically worked just fine with the recent update and on the downgraded version.
@Matheuss_HZ I have the exact same thing, the lights look blurry and ugly!
doesn't seem to work on the latest patch for me
@doragabi09 Check your gameconfig.xml. I am still using the dsound.dll because I added spawn colors to almost all the cars in my popgroups file and they updated a few things that was making me crash to desktop.
@kouki_monster Can you provide some clear instructions to the rest of us who are struggling to make this work?
Thanks!
Guys today I figured something out in regards to previous comments, to save anyone time!
If you get the following issue: seeing text collide when you press F4 and seeing: System.IO.IOException
It means your scripthookdotnet.asi is loading twice (I saw it in Process explorer)
Now here's the thing!
When I deleted rpf.cache it stopped doing this
So, this file seems to be the issue.
Now to prevent future rpf checks make a new text document in your GTA directory, click save as, name it: rpf.cache.disable, select all files (As the saving option instead of txt) and click save
Some more advise!
In the end you should have:
OpenRPF.Asi
ScripthookV.dll
ScripthookVDotNet.dll
ScripthookVDotNet2.dll
ScripthookVDotNet3.dll
Xinput1_4.dll
(I can't help you regarding OpenIV.asi because I install my files directly to my main GTA V folder instead of using a mods folder so I don't have it in my directory, sorry)
Delete any of the following files if you have them:
dinput.dll
dinput8.dll
dsound.dll
wininet.dll
winmm.dll
Took me 3 days to figure all of this out but as mod creator stated, it works on other people's end
Hopefully this helps <3
Oh another thing, remove scripthookV & scripthookVDotNet log files (So the txt it creates), potentially you have to delete these every time you start the game for it to work properly.
I found an additional potential fix for anyone
https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/directstoragefix
Check this out as well!
