Persistent vehicle fuel for GTA V, with a refuel you walk through.
Every vehicle carries a real fuel tank. It empties as you drive, and it is still empty when you come back to that car tomorrow.
Free. Open source under MIT. Nightly builds at spitmux.me if you want it before it lands here.
===================================
WHAT IT IS
Refuelling is not a menu. Walk to the pump, take the nozzle. It goes in your hand and the hose comes with you. Walk round to that model's filler, fill up, walk the nozzle back and hang it up. Walk too far and the hose pulls it out of your hands.
Runs on Legacy and Enhanced from one build.
===================================
WHAT ELSE IS IN THERE
===================================
REQUIREMENTS
On GTA V Enhanced it must be the Enhanced fork: script-hook-v-net-enhanced
The Enhanced fork reports 3.9.0.0 but is released as v1.1.x. To see what you have: right-click ScriptHookVDotNet3.dll, Properties, Details.
Nothing else is needed. Remove any other fuel mod first. Two fuel mods will both cut your engine and both charge you, and neither will know about the other.
Compatibility. No game files are touched, so graphics, map and vehicle packs are fine. Built alongside Posted Up and Bare Minimum and tested with both running.
===================================
INSTALLING
Copy the scripts folder from the zip into your GTA V folder. You end up with Fumes.dll, Fumes.ini and a Fumes folder inside scripts. The Fumes\icons folder is the HUD's pictures, keep it.
To uninstall, delete those. Nothing else is written and nothing in the game's files is touched.
No log at all? The mod writes scripts\Fumes\Fumes.log on startup. If it is not there the DLL never ran, which is nearly always ScriptHookVDotNet 3 missing or older than 3.6.0.

CONTROLS
===================================
CHANGELOG
Fumes 1.0.3 is up.
Bug fixes: an empty jerry can can be filled at a pump again (@AliG_15); the gauge can be moved with Bare Minimum installed (@VaporHaven, @HunterBoys555); no more sparks and crawling along on an empty tank, which turned out to be two causes stacked, ours and the game's own low-fuel routine (@GrandHaven, @AliG_15); the Oppressor Mk II no longer hovers when dry (@AliG_15). And the car no longer vanishes while you siphon from it.
New: fuel comes out of the nozzle, hold FIRE with it in your hand away from a filler and petrol pours on the ground, charged at that pump's price. Every vehicle has its own thirst now, worked out from its weight and engine rather than a table, so DLC and add-ons get a real figure, and all of it is adjustable from the menu (@Asaseh, @Aquaphobic). Reserve routes the GPS to the nearest station in orange. The low-fuel splutter is backfires and smoke and never touches the driving, and he curses the car in his own voice when it is dry. The hose is smooth.
Drop it over the old one, nothing needs a new save.
Every changelog CHANGES.txt, inside the zip.

WHAT ELSE IS IN THERE
- Siphon fuel out of any car with a jerry can, or fill the can at a pump;
- A full can does not stop it. The overflow pools at your feet, and it ignites;
- Fuel grades: Regular, Plus, Premium. The grade stays in the tank. A card at the pump shows what each costs there;
- Diesel for trucks, buses, tractors and the fire engine. Costs more, goes further;
- Bikes get a bike's tank, about seventeen dollars to fill, same range as a car;
- Electric vehicles are left alone entirely. No tank, no gauge, no fuel burned. Detected by the model's own flag, so DLC and add-on electrics too;
- Traffic pulls into forecourts when it is low and already nearby;
- The gauge sloshes with speed, chimes on reserve, and hides with the game's HUD, in cutscenes and through fades;
- Nine languages from the settings menu: English (UK, US), Português (BR), Español, Français, Deutsch, Русский, Polski, Hindi, 中文. English by default; anything a translation does not cover shows in English. Picking one sets the units its speakers expect. Each is one json file, so corrections and new languages need no rebuild;
- Twenty-five stations on the map, one legend entry between them. Refuelling itself does not use the list: the mod finds the pump you are stood at by its prop, so a station missing from the map still works.
===================================
REQUIREMENTS
- Script Hook V for your edition;
- ScriptHookVDotNet 3, any build from 3.6.0 up. Nightlies and the Enhanced fork included.

@eldrin cheers mate, glad you're enjoying it :)
@HTR - 1 no LSPDFR integration as such, but it doesn't touch anything LSPDFR uses so they should run happily side by side. Shout if you hit anything.
@2EZ4RNDI thanks mate, appreciate it :)
@BlueLion cheers Try AffectTraffic = true in Fumes.ini and see if the DLC ones start varying. Lmk
@ZaneL8ilence haha test it
@GTA5gamers sorry mate. Open scripts\ScriptHookVDotNet.log and search for Fumes — if it isn't mentioned at all it never loaded. Paste the line and we will see
@gtavjamal update version any current SHVDN3 will do it now
@Lucy_Foxy anytime
@Thomas_141 0.1.8 onwards builds against 3.6.0 and up, so Legacy and normal SHVDN3 work now.
@User20192910291 sorted — 0.1.8 builds against 3.6.0 and up, so nightly works now
@HunterBoys555 in Fumes.ini under [Gauge]: set ManualX = true, and edit , but ims but gonna make a setting for it for next update tbh
@William Halverd thanks mate
@Quantume30 cheers, glad you like it
@EzX_GTA that means a lot, thank you.
@Aquaphobic per-model rates on top of the class ones I can work that in sure
@ChargedKILO It finds the nearest pump prop: prop_gas_pump_1a to 1d, prop_vintage_pump, prop_gas_pump_old2/old3. So if Liberty City uses the stock pumps it should already work; if they're custom models it can't see them. Tell me the model name and I'll add it. jerome74 cheers mate, hope it holds up :)
@RReu 0.1.8 builds against 3.6.0 and up, so the nightly builds load it now.
@Van_Zandt no worries at all :)
@DJ-LEXX appreciate that, thank you.
@AliG_15 good spot, thank you I'll get that sorted
@Asaseh thank you! Vehicle-specific consumption should be coming next update
@mykehdoom it already does the gauge is hidden through cutscenes, fades, deaths and character switches. If you've got one where it stays up, tell me which n I'll have a look
@SomiVH thank you, that's very kind.
@RReu ha, thank you
@CrashLSPDFR some add-on cars have no petrolcap bone, so the mod has to guess the spot. Try raising CapReach in Fumes.ini (default 1.9). Tell me which car and I'll check it properly.
@spitmux Hi! I noticed a small issue with the Oppressor Mk II.
When the fuel reaches 0, the Oppressor Mk II can still keep flying normally instead of losing power/stopping like a vehicle that has run out of fuel.
Could you please check if this can be fixed in a future update?

░▀░░░▀▀▀░▀░▀░▀▀▀░▀▀▀
Thank you for developing this mod.🌹
Please fix some of the bugs in this mod in the next update. They are as follows:
1. Each vehicle should have its own specific fuel consumption. In other words, the consumption rate should be based on how much the player accelerates, how gently the vehicle is being driven, and when the vehicle is left in standby/idling. I think this could be very useful.
2. When the vehicle’s fuel reaches zero, the engine starts sparking, which can be seen coming from the exhausts. A little later, the vehicle starts moving forward or backward. It would be better if, when the fuel runs out, the vehicle simply shuts down naturally and cannot be started again until it has fuel.
Thank you.🙏🙏
@spitmux ah got it! thanks for that - so ive added the props using mapeditor and loading them with my mod MapLoaderAuto so got it in Liberty City and Vice City now - great mod - hope theyve done this in vi
This is the best Fuel mod for ever man!!!
There are some bug report from comments, please fix that, thank you so much❤️👍
Easily the best fuel mod I've used, period. With your level of quality, I could see a whole range of roleplay/immersive mods, can't wait to see what more you can make!
Moving the Bar doesn't seem to work in the new update
@SomiVH are you Jeon Somi by any chance?
@spitmux Homie, electic cars are using gasoline, look into that
The best!!😏🔥🌹
@AliG_15 fixed in 1.0.3. Its thruster isn't the engine, so cutting the engine never touched it. A dry tank kills the hover now. Cheers for the report.
@GrandHaven both done in 1.0.3. Every vehicle works its own consumption out from weight and engine power now instead of a class table, and the sparks and creeping are gone, a dry tank just shuts down and stays down.
@VaporHaven fixed in 1.0.2. Bare Minimum's row was re-placing the gauge every frame. Both settings are on the HUD page now, and opening the positioner turns the first one off so your placement sticks.
@susipupi44 fixed in 1.0.3, hanging it up takes priority near the pump now :)
@thalilmythos shoudlnt be , which car is it? worth checking AffectElectric = false in your ini too.
@ChargedKILO nice good job :)
@SomiVH thank you :) most of the reported ones are in 1.0.3, the can at zero, the gauge, the sparks on empty and the Oppressor.
@timbo6 thanks mate, appreciate that.
@bizmeta1 glad it's sorted, cheers for coming back to say so.
@jerome74 cheers mate, hope it keeps holding up.
(11 Sep 2026, 2:59PM) I'm having a particular issue(s) with the Hud working with your bare-minimum mod it seems the feat. auto Hud doesn't seem to lock in place right with the food, energy, water, and sleep along with fumes gauge however the map and compass work perfectly. I have tried all in-game mechanics to fix this manually, I only see the green bar far left of the radar/map the other gauges are there but(are off-screen besides the green energy bar) I then have to move them off the radar/map which in turns moves the fuel gauge which I have tried to solo both out and use them standalone while both being active but the resizing feat just doesn't cooperate for whatever reason so it's either I play with it all spaced out away from the radar/map or I don't see the other nice looking gauges you ever worked tirelessly on but at the sometime using the barem; controls for Hud it moves the fuel gauge which is spaced out correctly for the radar/map. I guess another problem is for some reason when I try to fix the Hud manually it is having a very difficult time resizing and letting me control where it is on my screen. I'm playing on 1920x1080 Fullscreen. For now, ill disable the Hud but I would like the option to have these correctly positioned.
I don't know how to upload an image sorry for that...
This is a great mod and have been using both together
UPDATE (09/12/2026 4:41) It seems to only work correctly in Windowed Mode for some odd reason the Hud doesn't seem to work properly in another mode which is unfortunate.
This is an amazing mod, it works flawlessly on my old version of GTA V, with older ScriptHooks and etc, the customization is insane, I'd dare to say that this is the best fuel mod for GTA V, as of today.
