TruckSpawner - Traffic Spawner Mod (Enhanced) 1.0.4

Ever notice big rig trucks only ever spawn on highways in GTA V? This mod fixes that — semi trucks (Haulers, Packers, and Phantoms) now show up naturally on city streets and countryside roads too, complete with properly attached trailers about half the time.
Btw i made/tested this on GTA V Enhanced, should still work on other
editions too. if the ini/log still isnt generating on 1.0.4, please
let me know with your %TEMP%\TruckSpawner_diag.txt contents
Every truck spawns already in motion, correctly positioned in its own lane, and driving in the right direction — no random stationary trucks popping up in the middle of the road. The mod is fully aware of your surroundings: it won't overload already-busy traffic, won't interrupt missions or cutscenes, and keeps itself capped so trucks don't pile up endlessly.
Features:
Trucks spawn ahead of you in your direction of travel, with enough distance to react naturally
~50% chance of a properly attached trailer (box, tanker, or covered) — skipped automatically on roads too narrow or curvy for one
6 curated paint colors, matched between truck and trailer for a cohesive look
No spawns at airports, military bases, or mountain trail areas
Fully configurable via an easy-to-edit .ini file — no recompiling needed
Toggle the mod on/off anytime with F7
Built with safety in mind: automatically backs off in heavy traffic and plays nice with other traffic/population mods
REQUIREMENTS:
- ScriptHookV
- ScriptHookVDotNet (v3)
- .NET Framework 4.8
INSTALLATION:
1. Make sure you have ScriptHookV and ScriptHookVDotNet installed.
2. Drop TruckSpawner.dll into your GTA V "scripts" folder.
3. Launch the game — a TruckSpawner.ini file will be created automatically in the "scripts" folder.
CHANGELOG:
v1.0.4 - found the real fix this time (tested and confirmed). the
previous method for finding the scripts folder could still get
redirected by scripthookvdotnet in some setups, now using a different
approach that asks windows directly for the games exe location
v1.0.3 - actually found and fixed the real bug this time. turns out the
script was writing the ini/log to a random windows cache folder instead
of the actual scripts folder. should be fully fixed now
1.0.2 - adds a backup diagnostic log for anyone
still having the ini/log issue - if urs still isnt generating check
%TEMP%\TruckSpawner_diag.txt after updating and drop it in the comments
v1.0.1 - fixed a bug where the ini/log wouldnt get created if ur install
location was different from mine. shoutout User20192910291 for finding it

update: 1.0.4 is out (pending approval) and should actually fix the
ini/log generation bug for real this time - tested and confirmed on
my end. if you had issues with 1.0.1-1.0.3 grab this update once its
approved. sorry for the back and forth on this one, appreciate
everyone's patience testing it
edit TruckSpawner.ini,......This file does not exist.
The problem still exist for me in v.1.0.3 - Log file generated into C:\Windows\Temp directtory , INI file not founded.
@bruhheso hey thanks for confirming the issue and glad the concept's useful to you! so the last fix wasnt actually right either, turns out the method i used can still get redirected by scripthookvdotnet in some setups. switched to a different approach now that asks windows directly for the games exe location instead, tested it myself and confirmed it works properly this time. pushed 1.0.4, pending approval rn
@Tanthai1969 thats the same bug others are hitting - the ini file wasnt generating in the right spot. found a better fix now that asks windows directly for the games location instead of going through .net, which was getting redirected somewhere weird. tested and confirmed it works now. pushed 1.0.4, pending approval rn
@BillyVong yeah same root cause as before, my fix in 1.0.3 wasnt actually right either. switched to a different method now (asking windows directly for the exe path instead of going through .net) which should be way more reliable - tested it myself this time and confirmed the ini generates correctly. pushed 1.0.4, pending approval rn. thanks for stickin with it through all this
@Jonsku6020 Is this Legacy compatible?
@nj5050 The mod was built and tested on GTA V Enhanced only, not verified on Legacy. It Should theoretically work since it uses standard SHVDN/native functions, but if you will try it on Legacy, let me know how it goes either way
Thank you, now the INI-file is generated in the correct location !!!
@BillyVong amazing, thank you for actually testing and confirming! glad this
finally worked, appreciate you sticking with it through all the back
and forth
Is there a reason why the ini file isn't generating in the scripts folder? I can't find it anywhere and I'm playing the Legacy version. I've tried relaunching the game several times driving around and then checking again and nothing appeared.
@KxldHearted Hey thanks for reporting this, this is actually the first legacy report ive gotten since i only tested on enhanced. can you check %TEMP%\TruckSpawner_diag.txt (paste that into your file explorer address bar) and send me whats in it? that'll show me exactly what path its resolving to on legacy so i can actually see whats different
@Jonsku6020 yeah nothing comes up It just says No item match the search as if it wasn't being created at all.
@KxldHearted Heythat's actually different from the other reports. If literally nothing shows up in temp either, that means the mod might not be loading at all on your end, not a path issue. Can you check your scripthookvdotnet.log (in your gta v root folder) and see if it mentions TruckSpawner.dll anywhere? It should say something like "Found 1 script(s) in TruckSpawner.dll".. If that line isnt there, or shows an error, that means it's failing to load in the first place. Also, what version of scripthookvdotnet are you running? Since youre on legacy that could matter.
@Jonsku6020 uhh nah I don't think so, but I know I'm using the latest version ScripthookV and V.Net the one from last month
@Jonsku6020 So I just reinstalled the mod to see if it appears in the scripthook.net log, I just found out it does but this is the message error I see in the logs: [20:27:23] [ERROR] Failed to load script assembly TruckSpawner.dll when searching for script types because there is an assembly that the script tried to load as a dependency but couldn't. Exception message: Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information.
@KxldHearted I found the actual error, thank you! This means the dll itself is failing to load as an assembly before any of my code even runs, likely a version mismatch with scripthookvdotnet. Can you check exactly which version of ScriptHookVDotNet3.dll youre running? I built this against 3.9.0 so if yours is different that could be exactly it
@Jonsku6020 I've been running ScriptHookVDotNet-v3.7.0-nightly.189 for all my scripts but where do I download 3.9.0 from because I didn't see that version
@KxldHearted Kk i found the actual issue. Turns out i built this using a different version called “ScriptHookV .Net Enhanced” which is specifically for enhanced, not the normal ScriptHookVDotNet you’re using on legacy. So there actually isn’t a 3.9.0 for you to download, the nightly build you have is the right one.
The problem is on my end, i gotta look into whether i can make it work with the normal version too, or if the way i built the mod just doesn’t support legacy right now. gonna have to look into it properly, appreciate you bearing with me
@Jonsku6020 Ok no problem and thanks a lot i and I would like to test the mod if you get it working for legacy.
