For a long time, I have always wanted the cool ai cover animations to play for the player. I just hate the player's sprint into cover as it doesn't look very good during combat. Plus, the speed is just not human like and makes the character feel like a terminator. Now after hours of editing meta files in GTA 5, I was actually able to make this dream come true! The 5-mods page always had people making cover animations, only they never worked, and the project was given up entirely. Originally, I was going to post this mod to my Patreon page, only I know how long this GTA-5mod community has been waiting, same as myself. I just think it will be a good gift for you all to enjoy and feel free to check out some of our other mods!
-----------------------------------What this mod does------------------------------------------------------------
With my overhaul of the cover animations in GTA 5. You will now be able to strafe into cover using ai animations when using a 1-handed or 2-handed gun. You will now also be able to use the AI's cover intro and outro anims when firing from behind cover. Another addition to this mod is a change to the combat roll animation which will be optional for players once they download this mod. The roll will instead be a 1-handed or 2-handed taunt animation that will play when pressing the dodge key or X on a remote. These animations are either the taunts that appear in the Trevor hallucination mission with the clowns, or other options that include cop, gang, and swat gestures that will be available once you download this mod. Swat cover animations are now a thing! So, if you wish to take cover more professionally, you now have that option!

Where this is a work in progress mod, there are some known issues that could potentially be fixed with further editing in the future updates.
- Long distance into cover doesn't always reach destination for the swat low cover (Animation is too fast, but I am going to fix this in a later update)
- Unarmed sprint strafe does not work currently due to the AI not having this option by Rockstar. (I have however made a base cover beta test which you can try out to see what I am trying to work around. Note that this beta does break your AI and swat cover facing movements and low cover swat strafe.)
- Pistol idles never have worked in the vanilla GTA game for player. I did however make a base pistol idle for the AI cover strafe in this new update. Check YouTube video v1.2 attached to this mod.
(Rockstar never assigned for the player to have 1-handed gun idles, so I am currently trying to find a way to assign it myself)
- The taunt options all play two instead of only one due to the roll needing a follow up animation (Invincibility or increased health is highly encouraged when using these roll replace versions)

To activate the cover animation for player to use the swat variation. Simply list the animation first in whatever personality you choose to add it to in the pedpersonality.ymt. (Add this to an item: swat). Whatever ped model you have listed in the peds.ymt using for example personality: police. Only police peds or peds with this personality can play them unless listed in other ones as well. Whatever you choose as the option is yours.
If you have other mods installed, then please check those and make sure the pedpersonality.ymt isn't already edited before installing this mod. Same goes with the weaponanimations.meta this mod replaces. I also edited a clipsets.ymt file, just be sure to check if that will cause issues for other mods you have. If you have other mods installed using weaponanimations, then simply list this for 1-handed weapons & melee weapons cover:
cover@move@ai@base@1h
Then for two handed weapons list it as this:
cover@move@ai@base@2h
Or if you wish for swat cover do this for both:

@oooper666 So for that you're gonna want to copy everything from this line: <IdleLow1HVariationClipsets> down to this one: </PlayerIdleHigh2HVariationClipsets> and paste from my modded combattask. Then do the same for these third person animations: <SlidingEnterCoverAnimStateInfos> down to this </SlidingEnterCoverAnimStateInfos> Ignore the first-person animations. Hope you can understand this, but I didn't want to fill a huge message on this page with lines of stuff lol. That's pretty much all you need to copy and paste into whatever cambattask you need.

Is this working for the newest game version?
@LSPDhighway Yes this should work with any game version, as long as the meta files (main weapon animations.meta, and combattask) aren't edited by Rockstar in a later update.
@WolfFire23309 How do I uninstall the Mod because when I scroll the character doesn't go and it gets in the way Can you help me to uninstall this part?
@Dark_spartan You just gotta uninstall the combattask.ymt. Follow how you installed it along with everything else for this mod, and just simply replace with the vanilla files from outside the mods folder.

I love this mod but there a problem for me. Is about the fire rate, the fire rate is not very realistic and i would like to have a fire rate who is the same as the mod "Immersive Combat". What should i do ?
The fire rate change when i change "weaponanimations" meta file, without a fire rate just like Immersive Combat i can't use this mod but would love to.
@Mathox Hmm, I am not really sure how that's possible as I didn't really edit anything that edits the fire rate. However, I could've had another mod in at the time and just didn't realize it, but that is highly unlikely. If you wanna edit the weaponanimations.meta manually to get this mod to work for your existing modded weaponanimations.meta. You can just replace the cover lines of your favorite weapons with these below.
These are the two-handed lines:

@WolfFire23309 Is really embarrassing to say this but is it possible you make a update or a meta that is compatible with Immersive combat, i'm really not good at modding meta file.
@Mathox Hey man, unfortunately I cannot as I just do not have the time to do so. I am currently working on model ports from GTA IV to GTA V and I am working still on summer college classes. So, to make a compatibility I just unfortunately cannot do. Just look up videos on YouTube for meta file editing and you will learn with no problem. Thats how I got to know everything that I do mod wise currently. Which is through the art of trial-and-error XD.

@adi4015x Hey Adi, apologies for not seeing your message sooner. Don't forget to @ me or other mod creators in your messages for the future as it doesn't pop up in our notifications unless you do. I cannot add an uninstaller for this mod at the moment as I am extremely busy either converting GTA IV models to GTA V or with college classes right now. Plus, this mod is a bit old, and I don't entirely remember what all I did to make it. It would take me a bit to remember what the process was in order to update it and stuff. I do plan to come back at some point and make an update for this mod adding some cool root motion animations for sliding into cover and maybe even rolling. Similar to how GTA IV's cover system works. Of course, also adding an uninstaller. I'm glad you like the mod though! If you ever wanna uninstall it, just go through the files manually following the install paths from the download archive and replace the modded files in your OpenIV using your vanilla game files outside your mods folder. Just hopefully you installed this in your mods folder, otherwise that might be a problem for you. Hope this helps and thanks again!

You need an OIV for uninstalling. Wth is that uninstall process
@OfficiBabySmurf Uhm you actually don't need an OIV to uninstall, just learn to mod and you will have no problem lol. Like WTH is your problem?
