- Jail Escape: Attempt to escape the MRPD holding cell with a lockpick minigame.
- Prison Escape: Break out during prison transport with help from a getaway crew.
- Community Service: Serve lighter sentences by cleaning trash in different locations.

Bounty Hunting System (v1.0)
Overview
A comprehensive bounty hunting mechanic that replaces standard police response while you're wanted. Unlike the police, bounty hunters are relentless and escalate based on how much your bounty grows.
How It Works
Bounty Formation:
- A bounty is automatically established the moment you reach a wanted level.
Bounty Growth:
Crimes committed while wanted continuously add to your bounty:
- With Better Chases+: Crime types BC+ detects (murder, assault, grand theft auto, etc.) each count once per chase episode. Individual kills are credited per body ($750 for cops / $250 for civilians).
- Without Better Chases+: Each wanted star tier adds its base bounty value once. Kills are still credited individually.
Hunter Factions (Escalate by Bounty Severity):
- Levels 1–2 (Thugs): Street goons in basic vehicles. Low accuracy, no armor.
- Levels 3–4 (Mercenaries): Armed professionals with tactical gear and improved weapons. Medium-high accuracy, body armor.
- Level 5 (Merryweather): Elite PMC units with heavy armor, attack helicopters, and lethal force authorization. Extremely dangerous.
Hunter Behavior:
- Hunters spawn in waves on an in-game schedule (approximately every 12–24 in-game hours).
- They pursue you across the map in vehicles and on foot.
- Capture Mode (Non-Lethal): Hunters use tasers to subdue you.
- Lethal Mode: Hunters escalate to firearms if you draw a lethal weapon or they take heavy damage.
- Hunters go passive while you have police heat; they don't engage while the police are actively pursuing you. Once you lose your wanted level, they resume.
- Hunters can be killed or evaded to buy time, but the bounty persists until settled.
- Bystanders or authorities might try to assist bounty hunters too, so watch your back.
Settlement Options:
- Surrender to bounty hunters: when hunters catch you, you enter custody.
- Turn yourself in at Mission Row bail office: access the Bail Enforcement menu with the blue handcuff icon.
- Pay off your bounty: settle the full amount at the bail office (requires sufficient cash).
- Get arrested by police: if police capture you while a bounty stands, the bounty is settled.
- Die during a chase: hunters despawn and the bounty remains owed; they regroup after you respawn.
HUD & Persistence:
- The bounty amount displays on a timer bar whenever you're wanted or in an active hunter wave.
- Bounty state survives game saves/loads using an xml.
Better Chases Plus Integration
- Automatic detection: The mod detects BC+ and adapts bounty growth logic.
- Enhanced crime tracking: BC+ crime flags reset per chase episode, so crimes in a new wanted streak properly increment the bounty instead of ghosting.
- Per-kill credit: Individual kills are credited alongside BC+'s crime flags, so repeated killings in one chase continue adding to the bounty.
- Warrant system: Pay off active BC+ warrants at the bail office (requires "Arrest Warrants" mod feature).
Changelog
v1.0 (Release)
Bounty Hunting System (Major Feature)
- New per-star bounty values: $500 per star tier with cumulative totals, replacing flat multipliers.
- Dynamic hunter escalation: Bounty severity unlocks different factions (thugs → mercs → Merryweather).
- Crime-driven growth: Bounty increases as you commit crimes while wanted (with or without BC+).
- XML persistence: Bounties survive game save/reload cycles.
- HUD display: Real-time bounty amount visible on the timer bar.
- Improved capture mechanics:
- Tasers fire while hunters advance (not from a standstill).
- On-foot hunters can tackle you at melee range, subduing you into arrest.
- Death handling: Hunters despawn when you die mid-chase; bounty remains owed.
Better Chases+ Deep Integration
- Per-chase crime reset: Crime-flag counting resets when BC+ swaps to a new chase, fixing crime ghosting.
- Per-kill bounty credit: Individual kills credited per body, in addition to BC+ type flags.
- Chase state detection: Uses BC+'s chase object reference to detect new wanted episodes.
Transport & Vehicle Entry Improvements
- Player now enters police vans through whichever rear passenger door is open or nearest (not always rear-left).
- Entry is animated (player walks up and climbs in) instead of fade-to-black.
- Officer positioning adapts to the chosen door.
UI & Message Cleanup
- Removed transport status hints ("Stay down…", "…transported to Mission Row").
- Removed debug notifications and bounty flavor text.
- Removed prison/jail timer notifications and escape objective hints.
- Removed "Bounty increased" feed messages (HUD bar shows growth instead).
Reworked Companion Surrendering
- Companions now surrender alongside you when caught by bounty hunters, respecting your arrest profile.
RDE Compatibility
- Full support for Real Dispatch Enhanced and custom max-wanted-level mods.
- Bounty severity and hunter waves scale appropriately with extended star tiers.
Surrender-Only Mode (Optional)
- New setting to disable bounty hunters entirely and rely solely on vanilla police response.
- All other mod features (transport, custody, booking) remain active.

- Added various bug fixes and polish.
- Fixed clothing restoration issues for Michael, Franklin, and Trevor.
- Improved cleanup for props, body armor, accessories, and custody outfits.
- Improved jail door locking behavior.
- Updated the default INI settings for the new release features.
v0.6: Better Chases Plus Integration & Update

- Better Chases Plus Detection: The mod now automatically detects whether Better Chases Plus is installed. You no longer need to use a separate version of the mod for compatibility.
- Community Service: You can now perform community service while in prison to earn early release.

@Hotcake Mods Thank you for this amazing update.
Amazing mod! Can you please delete the "press X to surrender" notification when the police called? It's killing immersion with players with no hud, or can you make it able to disable in the INI? I would really appreciate it! other than that, amazing job!
Great mod!
100% need support Evolved Police Response
Escape update coming out in a couple of weeks, check out the first sneak peek on my patreon, which you can join for free, here: patreon.com/SrFlapjack
Can you make your mod compatible with Wanted Consiquences?
amazing mod really liked it would like if after you do the community service that your clothes go back to normal when at the police station. other than that really good mod
@Hotcake Mods If there is anything I can do with my Better Chases+ mod to make it more compatible with your mod let me know! I am making minor fixes to my mods now that there is a version of SHVDN that will work with GTAV Enhanced.
Hey guys,
I’m sorry for the lack of updates on this mod. Over the past few months, I’ve been job hunting, and it’s honestly made me feel pretty demotivated to work on anything else; even coding. If you’re in a similar situation, you probably know how tough it is to find any kind of employment right now.
I’m not trying to get personal for attention or anything, but I just want to make it clear that I haven’t given up on this project. I’ve just been busy with other things. I’ll be getting back to work on the next update soon, and hopefully, I’ll have it finished by the end of this month at the very least.
Lastly, if you’ve encountered any bugs, compatibility issues, or other problems with the mod, please leave a comment so I can address them. This will probably be the last update for a while until I’m fully back on board with it again.
@Hotcake Mods yo man i hope you find the job and get the motivation to finish this project n update it more you have thousands of people waiting on you and loving your work you have fans if that means anything to you
I'm truly sorry you're going through these difficulties. I hope you don't abandon this project; we all love it!
Love your mod. Is there a way you can release a mod only with the surrender part? You are the only one here with a good surrender mod.
@Hotcake Mods Thank you for making a big come back on this script.
@Starfox1993 Fr 🙏
Sorry for the lack of updates, I finally had the time to come back and work on this mod, so here's a quick briefing on what to expect:
0.9 is several updates beforehand combined into one. 0.7 was going to introduce jail/prison escape, 0.75 was going to be the halfway update and focused on balancing/improving different aspects (such as the trial system) and adding a settings/debug menu, 0.8 was focused on overhauling/adding to the surrender mechanics (most of which made it into this update, except for companion surrendering), and 0.9 was supposed to be the polishing update. However, since I haven't updated this mod in almost a year, I decided to cram all of these additions in one update (which is why its titled "the big one").
So whats next? At this point, I don’t have any major content additions planned. I feel the mod is in a solid enough state that it doesn’t need huge content updates. I’ve tossed around the idea of a full prison simulator, but that would be so large it could easily become its own standalone mod. So here's whats planned going forward:
-0.95 will be a large bug‑fixing and polishing pass. I know most, if not, all mods will have issues, but I want to track down and fix as many long‑standing issues as possible.
-Lastly, the big 1.0 update. This will likely be the last major update for the mod. It will introduce bounty hunters who can track you down (similar to how it works in Red Dead Redemption). I’m still in the planning phase and haven’t started implementation yet, but I already have some ideas for how to integrate it.
Anyways that’s about it. I don’t really plan on making new mods after this because I haven’t even had the time to keep this one updated consistently. I had big ambitions, but sometimes ideas that sound great on paper are hard to execute. That said, I’m aiming to release the hotfix update within the next couple of weeks, and the 1.0 update around June.
P.S. If you encounter any bugs/problems in this update, let me know so I can address them.
when I press E to skip... the game crashes... any fix?
@GTA5gamers I'll look into it.
This mod is awesome!
Is there anyway possible we could actually do time in the jail in the future maybe? great work here no yap
@Hotcake Mods Can I use this with RDE?
Final update coming out tonight.
