Actually disregard my comment from yesterday as the crash was related to another indirectly-related issue (RPH). The stock download .meta file works perfectly as long as the mods folder is based on latest update' stock files as Marcel2015 said.
Apparently the new update crashes with "unknown" vehicles to the update.prf. I got it working by taking the "including DLC" handling.meta file, and deleting ALL the records for vehicles AFTER the STALION2 and BEFORE the INSURGENT.
It is a reasonable compromise until the author releases an update.

It is a great mod and very simple to use but the game is crashing randomly when I use it. I am using the ScriptHookV version in the meantime.
