📖 About BetterChaseRemade
Tired of GTA V police responding to every situation with the same level of aggression?
BetterChaseRemade transforms GTA V's standard wanted system into a progressive law-enforcement experience where the police response changes according to your actions during a pursuit.
Police begin with a controlled response and gradually escalate their tactics when you continue fleeing, drive recklessly, attack civilians, assault officers, use weapons, or commit more serious crimes.
Instead of every pursuit immediately becoming a full-scale shootout, police must receive authorization before using PIT maneuvers or lethal force.

🤝 Credits & Project Information
BetterChaseRemade is a fan-made continuation, modernization, and expansion of Better Chases+, originally developed by Daimian.
Daimian's Better Chases+ was itself a continuation of the original Better Chases and Arrest Warrants projects created by Eddlm and Guadmaz.
BetterChaseRemade uses the existing Better Chases+ codebase as its foundation. The project updates and expands that foundation with:
- LemonUI integration.
- ScriptHookVDotNet 3 Nightly support.
- Expanded configuration options.
- New pursuit and recognition systems.
- Legacy and Enhanced support through separate builds.
- Continued maintenance and modernization.
This project would not exist without the original work completed by Daimian, Eddlm, and Guadmaz. All credit for the original concepts, systems, designs, and code foundation belongs to their respective creators.
Please support Daimian and check out his additional GTA V projects, including Pull Me Over and Stolen.
🚔 Progressive Wanted-Level System
BetterChaseRemade replaces the basic wanted-level progression with a configurable system that responds to the crimes committed during a pursuit.
- Wanted levels increase according to player behavior.
- Minor crimes produce a more controlled police response.
- Serious crimes cause the pursuit to escalate.
- Police tactics change as the chase becomes more dangerous.
- Every supported crime category can be configured independently.
- Full and passive wanted-level control modes are supported.
📈 Dynamic Chase Escalation
Police pursuits progress through multiple configurable phases.
- Each chase phase can use a custom duration.
- Backup can be requested during selected phases.
- Wanted levels can increase automatically.
- PIT maneuvers can become authorized during later phases.
- Lethal force can become authorized when the situation becomes dangerous.
- Every escalation phase can be individually enabled or disabled.
The police response develops naturally according to the duration and severity of the pursuit.
🚨 Crime-Based Police Response
BetterChaseRemade tracks multiple offences committed before and during a pursuit, including:
- Fleeing from police.
- Grand theft auto.
- Driving a stolen vehicle.
- Speeding.
- Reckless driving.
- Carrying a visible weapon.
- Aiming a weapon.
- Assaulting civilians.
- Assaulting police officers.
- Discharging a firearm.
- Murdering civilians.
- Murdering police officers.
Each supported crime can have its own wanted level, maximum wanted level, witness threshold, backup response, PIT authorization, lethal-force authorization, and speed threshold where applicable.
👮 Proportional Police Aggression
Police no longer use maximum aggression during every pursuit.
- Officers respond according to the seriousness of your crimes.
- Deadly force remains restricted until authorized.
- PIT maneuvers remain restricted until authorized.
- Police can use stun guns before lethal force is approved.
- More serious actions produce a stronger police response.
- Police aggression can be extensively configured.
🚗 PIT Authorization System
Police cannot immediately ram your vehicle during every chase.
- PIT authorization is controlled by pursuit severity.
- Selected crimes can authorize a PIT maneuver immediately.
- Later chase phases can authorize PIT maneuvers.
- Higher wanted levels can automatically authorize PIT tactics.
- A custom HUD indicator displays when PIT authorization is active.
🔫 Lethal-Force Authorization
Officers must receive authorization before using deadly weapons.
- Police initially attempt to use non-lethal force.
- Aiming a weapon can authorize lethal force.
- Discharging a firearm can authorize lethal force.
- Murder can authorize lethal force.
- Assaulting or killing police officers produces a stronger response.
- A custom HUD indicator displays when lethal force is authorized.
Lethal-force authorization can be disabled for players who prefer GTA V's original police behavior.
📡 Configurable Police Dispatch
The number of responding units can be configured for every wanted level.
- Minimum ground units for each wanted level.
- Maximum ground units for each wanted level.
- Minimum air units for each wanted level.
- Automatic dispatch-service management.
- Additional backup during chase escalation.
- Separate dispatch settings for one through five stars.
This creates a more controlled and proportional police presence during pursuits.
🔧 Wrecked Police Vehicles Stop Chasing
Severely damaged police vehicles can be removed from active pursuit duty.
- Police vehicles stop chasing when heavily damaged.
- Engine condition is evaluated.
- Vehicle body condition is evaluated.
- Blown tires are detected.
- Damaged units are prevented from continuing unrealistic pursuits.

- Surrender availability depends on the player's current condition.
- Unsafe states such as swimming, falling, or active combat are handled.
- The default keyboard surrender key is E.
📋 Persistent Arrest Warrants
Escaping the police does not always mean the incident is over.
- Warrants can be issued after an escaped pursuit.
- Separate warrants can be associated with the player and vehicles.
- Police continue searching after the wanted level disappears.
- Warrants retain the previous wanted level.
- Warrants store the player's last known location.
- Warrants persist between gameplay sessions.
- Warrant durations can be configured separately by wanted level.
🔎 Player & Vehicle Identification
Police must identify the player or their vehicle before continuing a previous pursuit.
- Recognition increases while officers maintain visual contact.
- Player and vehicle recognition are tracked independently.
- Police use line-of-sight checks.
- Distance affects recognition speed.
- Changing vehicles can help avoid an active vehicle warrant.
- Changing appearance can help prevent player recognition.
- A previous pursuit resumes when recognition reaches the required level.
👁️ Witness & Recognition System
- Nearby civilians and police officers can observe the player.
- Civilian and police witnesses are tracked separately.
- Witnesses must face or see the player.
- World geometry can block line of sight.
- Recognition decreases after visual contact is lost.
- Player and vehicle recognition are calculated independently.
- Recognition distance is limited for balanced gameplay.
📊 Spotted Meter & Indicators
The warrant system includes visual information showing how close police are to recognizing you.
- Configurable spotted meter.
- World-space indicators above searching officers.
- Indicator colors change according to recognition level.
- Recognition progresses from low awareness to full identification.
- HUD elements can be enabled or disabled.
- Spotted indicators can be controlled separately.

@Matthew Liddell I will look at the ped not entering interior also i will look a the Jailbreak mod and see what can be done
@FlareXll thanks fren.
@FlareXll I’m glad an update has been released. I have found three issues.
First, all other dispatch notifications have been properly localized. Only the newly‑added timed notification that broadcasts location and dispatches reinforcements remains in English and has not been localized.
Second, the custom wanted‑level settings for various crimes do not seem to work. I configured killing police officers to immediately trigger a 5‑star wanted level, but I only get 3 stars instead. I have tested this many times, and the setting simply does not take effect.
Third, during subsequent shootouts with police, some officers will suddenly switch to tasers even though lethal‑weapon authorization has already been activated against me. This does not seem right.
@CTadwafg from here on out its all fix and patching you find something just let me know i will fix for next updates and thanks
You do some great modding, but I've installed your 5.5.5.5 update while running my game on script hook nightly 189....my game kept crashing.
@FlareXll Hi, how do I change the F8 key? When I press it, an information window appears. FlareUI.SHVDN3 does this. I need a free F8 key.
@Vitalezzzz open the menu change the key from the menu
@FlareXII
Hello there, I wish to report a bug. I tried disabling the notification that appears above the minimap by setting ShowNotifications to false.
However, the notification about backup requests, PIT and lethal force notification still displays so I'm wondering if you can fix it.
@V4r1en7er there is two function that show u have to disable both of them join discord for help
@FlareXII
Link is dead. I need a new one, would you mind?
Came back to to find this mod has received a remake, playing with RDE and other mods; mod seems stable although I experienced a crash with the location updates on, but so far seems fine. I play with some settings tuned but I noticed before, over 2 stars some police will shoot without LF auth. TASER policy is a great addition but sometimes you'll get shot by guns and tasers forever. I also found if you put away your gun in and pull it out again most cops won't switch back to their lethal allowing you to mow them down (I did negate this by tuning the hostility settings in combattasks - I've always used this since the last BetterChases as an alternative to the ExtraBust as 2-6 star units to still spawn).
I like the details that's gone into arrest warrants, the search areas and everything is a nice addition, I did notice units will spawn out of nowhere but I'm loving the effort that's gone into remaking this faithfully. I play with the helmet and ID off because I found police wouldn't ID the character right in front of them but would for vehicles no problem, not sure if this is just the game being finicky though. Love how the foundation of this and PullMeOver has been refreshed finally, looking forward to future updates!
@RReu more updates coming yes so if you have bugs that need report my discord it open
@RReu Before I even try to fix this patch:
when the unauthorized gunfire and failure to switch back occurred, was Police Overhaul Compatibility set to RDE, or was it still set to Vanilla?
Yeah I encountered the same issue with pev sale and rede compatibility on and also 2 more bugs when pev sale, rde or both are on active no police blips pop up on the radar if you escape the police nor they spawn and I am not sure but I think if some npc would hurt an officer or kills an officer it would count as if the character has done it
@Mikey11130 will look at these and work on fixing in next update
Thanks for taking the time to remake this.
Seems to be working for the most part, I just use vanilla cops and while I thought having this mod as full, I think I needed to place it as passive (using your other mod pull me over remade) and then the big circle thing seemed to not work in a way I understand it logically (it could be working as intended but the majority of the time I will lose them and then the circle generates on me instead of my actual last known spotted location).
I also tried with finite cops enabled and removed and I think with the circle above disabled and finite cops enabled it works the best (nothing against you just feels more understandable).
Otherwise so far feels like a clean modernization and again appreciate you doing this for all of us.
@dimedius Thanks for the detailed feedback, and I appreciate you trying out the different settings.
Just to clarify the search circle: the behavior you described is actually intentional. The circle isn’t designed to mark the exact location where the police last visually spotted you. It’s meant to represent the general search area around the player once the pursuit enters that searching phase, so seeing the circle generate around your current area is expected.
That said, the feature is optional for exactly this reason—some players may prefer a more straightforward pursuit system. If disabling the search circle and using Finite Cops feels better and more natural for your setup, that’s completely fine.
Glad to hear the remake is otherwise working well for you, and thanks again for the feedback!
can you make your mod compatible with surrender and serve because it is only compatible with Daimians
@Mikey11130 no i am not gonna making my mods compatible with everthing this will cause functionality to be broken
I installed the mod for the first time using RDE and encountered the following issue:
Once I lose the police but still have an active wanted status, if I approach an officer and they recognize me, the chase doesn't resume; the screen says I've been spotted, but nothing happens. Also, when I attack a police officer, the wanted level resets, and I end up with 2 stars instead of the 5 I had before.
Could this be fixed as soon as possible? It’s a shame, as the mod seems to have a lot of potential.
