Talk2NPC brings real-time AI conversations to GTA V Enhanced Story Mode, allowing you to talk naturally with civilians, police officers, and emergency NPCs using your voice or text.
Ask questions, have everyday conversations, create roleplay scenarios, and experience Los Santos from a completely different perspective.

The Microsoft Visual C Plus Plus redistributable libraries (x64) are not a direct requirement of Talk2NPC. They may be required by ScriptHookVDotNet to load correctly. If ScriptHookVDotNet already works correctly in your GTA V Enhanced installation, you do not need to reinstall them. If you need them:

The Talk2NPC download already includes everything the mod itself needs. You do not need to download any of these separately:

Do not download LemonUI or NAudio from other websites unless specifically instructed in a future Talk2NPC update. The versions included in this download are the ones Talk2NPC was built and tested with.

AI MODELS USED BY TALK2NPC
Talk2NPC uses different AI models for different parts of the conversation system.
AI Brain / NPC Response Generation
For the current public release, Gemini 3.5 Flash is the recommended AI brain for generating NPC responses.
During development, several AI models were tested, including models capable of producing more advanced responses.
However, many of those models consumed available API quota much faster, introduced longer response times, or caused reliability problems during longer gameplay sessions.
Gemini 3.5 Flash currently provides the best overall balance for Talk2NPC between:
NPC Voice / Real-Time Speech
Talk2NPC currently uses Gemini 3.1 Flash Live Preview for the NPC voice layer.
This model is responsible for generating the spoken NPC voice after the conversation response has been created.
In simple terms:
The goal of this public release is not simply to use the most powerful AI model available.
The goal is to use a combination that can realistically support repeated NPC conversations during normal GTA V Enhanced gameplay without exhausting API quota too quickly or making conversations unreliable.
Model recommendations may change in future Talk2NPC versions as API limits, pricing, availability, and reliability change.

Many GTA V mods, frameworks, and gameplay systems are still focused primarily on the Legacy version of the game.

- Download and extract Talk2NPC.
- Drag the included scripts folder directly into your GTA V Enhanced main directory.
- If Windows asks to merge folders, choose Yes.
- Open scripts/Talk2NPC/Talk2NPC.ini and paste your Gemini API key in the "AI" section, ApiKey= field.
- Launch GTA V Enhanced Story Mode.
B) FIRST-TIME SCRIPT MOD USER
- Install ScriptHookV for GTA V Enhanced.
- Install a compatible ScriptHookVDotNet 3 build for GTA V Enhanced.
- Install .NET Framework 4.8 if it is not already installed.
- Create a Gemini API key through Google AI Studio.
- Install Talk2NPC using the same drag-and-drop method from section A above.
DEFAULT CONTROLS
- E - Interact with or dismiss the targeted NPC
- B (Hold) - Talk to police and emergency NPCs
- N (Hold) - Talk to nearby civilian NPCs
- T - Send a text message instead of speaking
- F10 - Open the Talk2NPC menu

🔑 Automatic API key rotation
Add up to 4 Gemini API keys. If one gets throttled, the mod switches to the next one by itself. No more NPCs going silent mid-conversation.
🗣️ physical actions
Just talk naturally — by voice or typing. Ask them to follow you, wait, get in your car, get out, walk away, come here, look at you, sit down or stand up, in your own words and in 7 languages. No rigid commands to memorize: the AI understands what you mean. They decide in character whether to obey — a stranger won't just hop into your car. You'll have to earn it.
⚔️ Retribution
Threaten an NPC and face the consequences: they flee, call the police, walk away… or fight back with fists, knife or gun, depending on who they are. Cops, gang members, civilians — everyone reacts like themselves.
📁 New customizable prompt folder
v2.0 adds a new Prompts/Actions folder with the NPC behavior file. Edit it with GTA closed and reshape their personality: how cautious they are with strangers, when they refuse, how they react. No coding, just text.

If NPCs stop responding after many conversations, your key may be temporarily throttled — create a new free key at https://aistudio.google.com/apikey and replace it in Talk2NPC.ini (or in the mod menu with Z). Supporter versions handle this automatically from the menu.

I’m currently working on a Legacy version, and what you’re describing is basically assigning roles to NPCs, so the AI knows what the NPC is doing and where (club, car, etc.) and doesn’t break or walk away when something unexpected happens. That system will be included in Legacy. Stay tuned!
