@Jocoer If there is a train with only a single engine, and you want to add more, you need to find that consist in the trains.xml list first. For example, the train config entry "med_tank04" has only a single engine in the lead "CSX2". If you wanted, you would need add another carriage definition right after the entry for csx2 with the name of the model you want to display. For example you could add "CSX6" next and it would be the engine just after CSX2. This also allows you to reverse the engine facing direction and the repeat count can be raised to allow for more copies of that engine to spawn. Example again, you could take the CSX2 lead engine and change its repeat count from 1, to 3, and then 3 of it will be at the beginning of the train. But then it will just be 3 of the same engine. This is fine if the engine has livery, but for the ones that do not, just add a new carriage entry after the entry for the lead engine. Just look through the consist entries, you will see how the engines are called for. Its pretty easy really you can do it. Feel free to ask again if you need more help though.
@Mr Doge Its all cool bro, I just catch a lot of flak for this mod sometimes and I also get a bit on the ol snappy side. But yeah the engineer mod itself is pretty out of date, so I include my updated ini to swap with the one it comes with. But I do not have all my engines ready to drive yet. Some have no interior at all just yet. Buuuuuut if you want, you can actually add the name of ANY model and if I have put the passsenger dummies in it, you can enter it and drive the train from it. This only seems to work on the front half of the train though. Maybe a detection limit with the script but I'm not sure. Did you install the props and did that work for you? Im actually updating the tracks and props for the next update, so I am curious about the success users are having with the props in the current version. You can also hit me up on discord if you want, I am much easier to reach there. And thats also where I recruit my testers, so its the best place if you have ideas you want me to add or change.
@Mr Doge Sorry for the slow reply man, I work a LOT. If you cant drive a train its probably not on the railroad engineer list. I do not own that mod and its the responsibility of the user to read the documentation with other peoples mods. I put in ALL my documentation what I know to be required as of the version of GTA. The trains themselves have not changed in the games handling since 2015. For example, KT4 on pre Cayo requires packfile adjusters, KT5 on pre Cayo requires it. But KT5 on Cayo update crashes from it. If you thinks its difficult to keep up with these changes, please imagine what its like to DEVELOP this shit, and maybe try not to come off as rude. Im a professional adult and I work more than 40 hours a week. These trains are a hobby that I share for free. I cannot sit here 24/7 for the occasions where someone has a problem.
@LJB123 Yes, but if you are on Cayo update you WILL need to update the custom game config (linked in readme) and you might have to remove the packfile limit adjuster if your game crashes near tracks. It does not seem to work correctly with version 5. You will not need to update the optional props or stations, they did not change from version 4. If you are not on Cayo you should still be able to just install the required base train file.
Yeah! Nice to see it here! Its definitely a find! I'll bring a flat bed and 100 bucks!
@FighterJet16 Yeah in the options folder there is some different track settings. You can just install different track options to try.
@FighterJet16 Sometimes that happens yes. If using trains on 2 tracks i think it hits the game memory too hard depending on circumstances. I also had some stability trouble that seems to have been the result of my game save. I downloaded and replaced my save with a 100% one from this site and my crashing stopped mostly. I dont know for sure yet what is different about the trains in the Cayo update. They do not seem touched unless its in the exe. And I have no idea what would have changed, but I have noticed the trains were a lot more stubborn to install after Cayo.
@FighterJet16 Contact me on discord bro, I will help you try to figure this out. It really shouldnt be fighting you this hard.
@FighterJet16 Are you on the EA version? I build the mod and test on steam version and I dont know if the needed files change for EA version. In the past I could not get them to run on that version at all. I am a little lost here. If I install on clean copy of the game, it will crash on load. I then add the game config and it will now load game but larger trains can cause freeze. Adding next heap adjuster I no longer have any problems. The trains are fairly stand alone in terms of how GTA handles them, so I doubt another mod would conflict with it. I will keep searching for a solution for you.
@FighterJet16 I will try some other things and see if I can figure this out. You have no other train mods right?
