CREDITS: Essentially most of the shared textures and some others were created by satrnv. The pictures, along with additional help and testing were provided by Exoskeleton.
Changelog:
3.0: Due to goverment funding Brown Streak was able to open a branch of locomotives and train cars exclusively for this state, the "San Andreas Regional". This means you'll see way more passanger trains now. They were also able to introduce the duplex passanger coaches into the area.
- Revamped the classic Streak loco and moved the old model to the classic San Andreas livery, only spawning on a single train config
- Remade the default freight from the ground up
- Added a proper hopper car
- Added duplex passanger cars along with a matching cab
- New liveries for some old passanger cars/locos
- New bogies for all passanger coaches
- Some minor fixes
2.0: Added 4 new models ad 11 new config files. I've also informed the LS metro train that it can't fly.
About:
Ever thought the single freight engine looping around San Andreas non-stop was a bit boring? Well, I certainly have, so I made a couple more of them, with some more functionality and variation. I've also included some new sounds to spice trains up a bit.
I also brought back Brown Streak, with a brand new engine and a new livery.
Approximately 25 models are included in the pack, with 97 brand new train configs the game can choose from.
Recommended/Related mods: (Independantly updated; Might be incompatible after update)
Railroad Engineer - Script mod which lets you take control of the trains.
Extra Lore Friendly Liveries - Adds a couple of railroad companies alongside the Brown Streak trains.
Populated Railways - Simple menyoo mod that puts some of the trains from this mod onto the sidings of San Andreas.

FAQ:
Q: I get a crash on start-up after installing the mod, what do I do?
A: Make sure you've installed a custom gameconfig file. If you did, and it still crashes on load, make sure you placed the dlc folder into the right place.
Q: I get a crash when I go near the train tracks, why?
A: Usually this is caused by the game not being able to find the custom models, but still trying to spawn them on the tracks.
If this happens to you, try to spawn the model called "freightdef" with a trainer and see if your game crashes. If it does that means you probably didn't mount the dlc correctly.

- Every engine has a unique light configuration, which means after a while it's easy to tell what type of train is approaching at night, just by the lights.
- J10 Railroad Engineer config file included.
- Passanger trains are back, and stop at various stations across San Andreas.
- Improved track file, which fixes some notorious train track misplacements and also improves track quality, mostly in the city.
- Brand new sounds!
- Way longer trains than default.
- Compatible with the LA Subway mod.

Known issues:
- Freight trains will also stop at stations, sometimes even staying stationary for more than 10 minutes. To my knowledge this can not be avoided.
- NPCs are not able to navigate off the streak coaches. I'm open to suggestions on fixing this.
- The Player will not fit down the stairs on the coach. To counter this, Jump, and while in mid-air press your attack key. (R by default.)
- Apparently the mod causes the game to crash when loading earlier save games for some people. So if that happens to you try uninstalling this mod.

Please read the FAQ section of the description if you have an issue before posting a comment about it. If your issue is not listed in it, or the mod is still not working after you looked thru it, feel free to @ me and I'll try to help.
@Walter I'd love to see you make something like a Comet IIM Railcar and Comet IV Cab Car (most likely found on NJ Transit) run on this line with a Brown Streak livery.
it would be VERY helpful if instead of writing the instructions...you made a VIDEO...please? I followed the instructions exactly but it is now crashing the game
@Walter I love this mod so far! I do have a small issue where the vanilla subway appears only one car long, and has a completely open rear. Has this happened to anyone else?
@Walter .OIV please
@Walter Great mod, but I have an issue. When I enter the train using the railroad engineer mod, I immediately get out from the side of the train. I can still control it, but I'm not in the train.
Instalation is very easy... textures are in high quality.. everything is great... alamost... i cant enter the train...
@Walter the mod but the game crashes when its loading on start up I've got custom game config but still crashes but where do you put the dlc cos I heard that if it crashes and u have the custom config for the game then you haven't placed the dlc file correctly but where do you place the dlc file
the games keeps crashing near were the train should. Is this how the dlc should be mounted

dlcpacks:/patchday21ng/

dlcpacks:/mpvinewood/

dlcpacks:\overhauledtrains\

</Paths>
</SMandatoryPacksData>
@Walter i followed the instructions step by step and the games crashes when loading i have read the faq and the dlc folder is in the right place Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks
(ignore my previous comment)
@phoenix5 the dlclist should be:
dlcpacks:/overhauledtrains/
(forward slashes) it's a mistake in the download.
Ok I've installed everything correctly. Game starts, I go to the tracks. Stand there for a couple seconds and the game freezes and crashes. I've read the FAQ and everything checks out good.
This pack was great, but it doesn't seem to work with the latest version of GTA V. Sorry to see it go.
@Walter I have a train job I'm doing in Fivem, trying to Use your super cool models!!! Problem is, I am getting polygon error crashes. I can put your yfts in OpenIV and see them Fine. Is there a way to downscale these to not get the polygon crashes? I'm super in love with your work, please fix so I can share with my community!
@Razwerkz has happened to me too. Everything works fine but the metro trains. They spawn halfway into the tracks and the metro train itself is gone halfway with the back opened.
@Razwerkz and others who are having the same problem with the metro train. I've read the comments up top to see what's causing the problem with the metro train and figured out a solution, however it involves deleting some config files as the train.xml can't exceed past 200kb ( exceeding the file limit to 201 or 203kb might work too but 200 is the safe spot) Grab a copy of notepad++ to edit these files more easily (it can be done with other text editors but notepad++ is more organized) First go into your train.xml files from this mod (MAKE BACKUPS ANYTIME YOU ARE MODIFIYING SOMETHING YOURSELF IN CASE YOU SCREW UP, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH FOR PEOPLE) and delete the train configuration files that you feel that you don't need until the file size is 200kb or less (for ex: some people don't want backward trains or long trains for their game). Opening up model files within the overhauled trains will help you determine which train model correlates to the one described in the configuration. Each configuration will have a train that's supposed to spawn a specific way for ex: The carriage files will follow up to down on text indicating the train cars from first to last. In those carriage file will be a repeat count which basically means how many of that same model will make up the train. Now all you have to do is delete the configuration that you don't want, save it and paste it to the same directory you have your modded train.xml. I apologize if I didn't explain it correctly but I will answer any questions pertaining to this the best I can. This is useful if you want to download the extra livery mod for overhauled trains and have it not mess up the metro system. Also great mod Walter, this compliments my lore world with rde, wov etc, and if you're still active. Maybe update the train xml for those who use the extra livery mod?
Give the age of this upload and version, I am guessing Walter is no longer monitoring these comments. Anyone out there have a suggestion to be able to spawn these in FiveM? Like I mentioned up in my previous post, I am getting polygon error messages. Would really love to put these on my FiveM Server and use them for some jobs. Any help is welcome!
@AdderFTW888 thanks but it still crashes when loading do you know a fix for this
Works fine on latest build of GTA. But only IF you follow @AdderFTW888 advice above. The slashes are reversed in the line you need to enter into the DLC list. As the latest versions XML files are all less than 200kb I didn't need to cull anything. Now I didn't install the train driver part as I believe there are newer mods for that and I didn't include the sounds for no better reason than I didn't try them. But as long as you replace the DLC line with the correct one, it works just fine. Very nice selection of rail cars, different flatbeds, flatbeds with liquid tanks, seavans and such. And the Brown Streak passenger trains work fine.
This is the line in the download, it is incorrect:
dlcpacks:\overhauledtrains\

This is the corrected line from AdderFTW888
dlcpacks:/overhauledtrains/

All credit to AdderFTW888, I am only reposting his fix because few people seem to be able to read up more than one or two comments looking for a solution.
I did see a passenger train stop randomly on the tracks in Sandy Shores before the rail crossing, no station there but hey, it's still nice to see passenger trains. I may try an alternative skin though, the brown is a tad bleh for my taste, but that is a personal preference and not a mod problem.
ive read the faq and it looks like i need a custom gameconfig file, can anyone help me with this
@Walter soooooo what's the password on templates.zip?
