Dynamic Weather
Dynamic Weather gives GTA V Story Mode evolving weather based on the in-game date, time, and your location. Moving fronts bring gradual changes while you explore or stay in one place, with warmer, drier summers and cooler, wetter winters.
The included HUD displays current weather, estimated temperature in Fahrenheit, and wind speed in mph beside the minimap. It works independently of In-Game Date.
Features
• Seasonal conditions follow GTA’s built-in calendar.
• Wetter coastal and northern areas, a warmer and drier desert, and cooler mountain elevations.
• Possible morning coastal fog and dry afternoon city smog.
• Weather evolves while stationary and changes gradually as you travel.
• Storms develop through clouds, overcast, rain, and thunder, then clear gradually.
• Smooth wind changes and gusts.
• 90-second weather transitions with a 20-second stability period.
• Built-in weather, temperature, and wind HUD. Press F10 to show or hide it without stopping the simulation.
• Releases weather control during missions, cutscenes, character switches, and player death.
• No Settings.ini or mod log files. Weather-front progress is saved between sessions.
Requirements
Script Hook V and its ASI loader, compatible with your game build.
ScriptHookVDotNet Enhanced. Built against its v3.9.0 API; the development setup uses Enhanced v1.1.0.6.
Installation
1. Install the requirements in your GTA V folder containing GTA5.exe, following their installation instructions. Keep the ScriptHookVDotNet ASI and API DLLs from the same release together.
2. Create a scripts folder in your GTA V folder if one does not exist.
3. Copy DynamicWeather.dll into scripts. Do not place it inside scripts/scripts.
4. Disable competing weather scripts and trainer weather locks, then launch Story Mode.
5. Press F10 to toggle the weather HUD.
The mod automatically creates scripts/DynamicWeather/ClimateState.txt to preserve weather-front progress. No configuration is needed.
To update, replace the previous DynamicWeather.dll and restart the game or reload scripts using your configured ScriptHookVDotNet reload key.
To uninstall, remove DynamicWeather.dll and restart. You may also delete its DynamicWeather state folder.
Known limitations and compatibility
• Story Mode only. Developed and checked in GTA V Legacy; Enhanced edition compatibility has not been independently verified.
• GTA renders one global weather preset at a time. Regional conditions follow your location; separate distant storms are not rendered simultaneously.
• Weather and temperature are procedural estimates, not recorded real-world conditions for a specific date.
• Mainland mountain snow is disabled in this release. North Yankton retains snow weather.
• Snow accumulation, vehicle traction changes, and player survival effects are not included.
• Missions can impose their own weather, and mission protection may not cover every scripted event.
• Competing weather controllers can cause conflicts.
• HUD placement is fixed. Custom minimaps or other overlays may overlap it, and F10 may conflict with other mods.
• Temperature is omitted while the weather controller is suspended.
• The mod uses whatever date GTA reports; correcting the game’s starting years is handled separately by In-Game Date.
• Regional balance and unusual time-skip cases may need further tuning.
