@WillisMods This is really well done, I feel it's the first of its kind that I've seen in terms of a dynamic voice mod. Fantastic implementation.
I had an idea for something similar but could never figure out the implementation, and that would be to mainly incorporate "breaths and efforts" and just general non-verbal reactivity to make Addon Peds feel just that little bit more a part of the world. One general set for a male ped, and one for a female ped. So that would be for example grunts and non-specific yells during melee combat, slight groan when wet either from rain or in other bodies of water, hum or whistle absently when idle, reactive sounds to being run over or otherwise hit by melee or gunfire, that sort of thing. Not quite LEGO mumbles, not thinking comical, but that kind of wordless reactivity. I'd love to see something like that implemented, but only if that interests you and you had time.
All the best to you!
Big ask, but do you think I could get the source code for this mod? I just want to use it to learn how you did this. I'd like to make voice lines work for all kinds of characters for superhero mods. If not, I totally understand. I'd give you credit for essentially teaching me though in all of the mods and stuff.
@Lightmare2000 Hey, at least you asked haha. Unfortunately, my answer would be no. Can't give away my recipe, you know what I mean?
@WillisMods Fair enough. It's just unfortunate for one to gatekeep learning when it doesn't really benefit oneself and sharing the knowledge fuels the passion and fun, people are n it for the glory sometimes. I do fully understand though, It just makes it a little harder to learn. (I don't say this to pressure you to change your mind I earnestly hope the world changes their attitude towards sharing the "how" to creativity and art, we should want to share it as much as possible)
Thank you for the response and have a good one <<<333
@Lightmare2000 The reason I don't share the source isn't to gatekeep learning, it's because I'm self-taught, and getting to this point took a lot of time, trial and error, and research. I learned from tutorials, documentation, and experimenting until things finally clicked. That process taught me way more than just copying code ever could. For me, there's something really rewarding about taking what you've learned and building something you're genuinely proud of. I wouldn't want to take that experience away from someone else by just handing over the finished product. That said, I'm always happy to answer questions, point people toward resources, or explain concepts if they get stuck. And if you've got ideas for another voice pack or any other mod you'd like to see, let me know! I love hearing suggestions. :)
@CaptainJack Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback!
That sounds interesting for sure! It would definitely have to be exclusive to each ped though, which means it would be an insanely huge mod, which I don't know if I'd want to do. Or I can make it exclusive to a specific downloadable ped which would be a more realistic goal?
@WillisMods No worries at all! And yes, with my suggestion, I was thinking more or less it could be generic enough to just suit a male or female ped and not be tied exclusively to a particular character or model beyond a male or female character profile. And, like this wonderful Homelander mod, its not tied to a specific model to work, it just would work regardless of selected model.
Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing what you come up with down the line! :)
@WillisMods Thanks for discussing it <3 We all learn differently. I wasn't saying I would copy your code. I said I would use it to learn, because that's the easiest way for me to learn something. I can learn how a microwave works a lot faster by pulling off the shell and peaking inside compared to watching videos or using manuals.
Again, I fully do support you choosing to keep it private, there's just a point to be made to everyone about "taking away an experience" when that doesn't feel quite right. For some, taking away the experience is trying to make one learn a certain way, and holding back learning material that could help one vastly for the abstract idea that they must learn a certain way or that material must be kept private. The end result is absolutely rewarding, nothing at all is taken away from one's time, effort, skill, or dedication based on what learning materials they used.
I feel like it's more-so that people worry about theft, competition, ratings, things like that. Otherwise, why wouldn't everyone be sharing all the resources they possibly could to help others learn and grow? I'd just like to see us grow into art being less gatekept for everyone's sake.
