First Person Extended [Enhanced + Legacy] 1.1.0

First Person Extended
First-person FOV up to 120° and diagonal sprint for GTA V Enhanced and Legacy (story mode only).

What it does
  • Wider first-person FOV, using the game's own slider. The native slider (Settings > Camera > first-person FOV) now goes up to 120° horizontal (88.5° vertical at 16:9; the mod follows the window's aspect ratio). The slider minimum, its linear mapping and the saved value are the game's own, so the value shown in the menu, the saved one and the one used by the camera agree, and it persists across restarts.
  • Aiming, ADS, phone and vehicles follow the slider. In the original game they ignore it. By default (UniversalFov=1) hip aim and aim down sights use exactly the slider's FOV; the phone and vehicles widen in the same proportion as the on-foot view. Sniper scopes keep their original behavior.
  • The weapon keeps its size at the sight. While looking through the weapon's sight, the body and the weapon are drawn with the game's original FOV, so the sights stay aligned and the weapon does not shrink, while the world keeps the wide view. Reloading takes the weapon out of the sight until it is back. Optional (PlayerFov=1, experimental): the arms and weapon keep their original size in every first-person view.
  • Reduced clipping at wide FOV. The near clip plane is lowered to the engine minimum (0.01 m) for the on-foot camera and for cabin vehicles (cars, planes, helicopters, blimps, submarines, trains), so car windows, held weapons and clothes do not get cut. Bikes, quad bikes and boats keep the native value (a lower one makes the character's collar show on them).
  • Diagonal sprint. In first person, W+A+Shift and W+D+Shift keep sprinting (in the original game the sprint drops to a run). The character follows the direction of the keys, and footstep sounds and the minimap noise circle work while sprinting diagonally.

Requirements
  • GTA V Enhanced (tested on 1.0.1158.16, Steam) or GTA V Legacy (tested on 1.0.3889.0, Steam). The mod detects the edition by itself; every feature works on both.
  • One ASI loader. Legacy: Ultimate ASI Loader as dinput8.dll (x64). Enhanced: Ultimate ASI Loader renamed xinput1_4.dll, or the xinput1_4.dll that ships with ScriptHookV, or the dsound.dll that ships with OpenRPF. Use only one. ScriptHookV is not required.
  • BattlEye turned off through the officially supported flow: the BattlEye option in the Rockstar Games Launcher, or the -nobattleye launch option on Steam. With it off GTA Online is unavailable, as it should be with mods.

Installation
  1. Put the ASI loader in the game folder (next to GTA5_Enhanced.exe, or GTA5.exe on Legacy).
  2. Extract GTAV.FirstPersonExtended.asi and GTAV.FirstPersonExtended.ini into the same folder. (The .ini is optional.)
  3. Start story mode and set the slider in Settings > Camera. Max it out for 120°.

Options (GTAV.FirstPersonExtended.ini)
  • MaxFov=120: whole number 60..140, top of the slider in horizontal degrees
  • DiagonalSprint=1: 1 = keep sprinting on W+A / W+D, 0 = original game behavior
  • UniversalFov=1: 1 = hip aim / ADS use the slider's FOV, weapon at original size through the sight
  • PlayerFov=0: 1 = arms and weapon at original size in every first-person view (experimental)

Without the file, or with an invalid value (it is logged), the defaults above are used. Changes apply the next time the game starts.

Uninstall
Delete GTAV.FirstPersonExtended.asi, .ini and .log from the game folder. No original file is touched.

Made to survive game updates
No fixed addresses. Every patched spot is found at runtime by a byte signature (wildcards, a primary and a fallback pattern per spot, uniqueness checked), the original bytes are verified before writing, and the game's version and every scan result are written to GTAV.FirstPersonExtended.log. If a Rockstar update breaks a signature, only the affected feature is disabled (the log says which), and the game keeps running. The first line of the log shows the mod and game versions.

Known issues
These come from drawing the body and weapon with a different FOV than the world (PlayerFov=1 all the time, UniversalFov=1 while looking through the sight):
  • Muzzle flash and smoke are drawn with the world's FOV and do not line up with the weapon. Very visible from the hip with PlayerFov; with either option when aiming down sights with weapons without a suppressor and with a modified sight.
  • Shadows on the character and weapon are misaligned, most visibly on Enhanced with ray-traced shadows. Turning ray-traced shadows off is recommended with these options.

Known limitations
  • Tested on Enhanced 1.0.1158.16 and Legacy 1.0.3889.0. After a game update some features may log "not found; stays original" until the patterns are regenerated.
  • Compatibility with other camera or FOV mods is untested; running two mods that change the same camera code is not supported.
  • Some clipping and animation issues are expected and unfixable without new animations.

Troubleshooting
Open GTAV.FirstPersonExtended.log in the game folder. If it is empty or missing, the loader is not loading the .asi (check that exactly one loader is installed). To report a problem, post the log in the Bugs tab.
